Description
We are currently recruiting for PIP2 Specialist interview officers. to work for Thames Valley Police at their headquarters in Kidlington.This role is for a 12 month Fixed Term Contract working Monday to Friday - 37 hours a week.
The overall purpose of the role is to:Co-ordinate and support major/ sensitive/level II investigations and intelligence gathering.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITY AREAS
- Assist with investigations in accordance with legislation and good practice, e.g. intelligence collection, preparation and support to the DS during any investigation or intelligence operation.
- Attend briefings to update the investigation and management team, identifying pertinent information and bringing this to the attention of the management team as appropriate, urgently if required.
- Prepare and update investigative and intelligence strategy documents for investigations
- Collate intelligence to assist in providing a regionally accurate overview of ongoing investigations. Prepare written reports summarising lines of enquiry, intelligence and other complex issues
- Identify emerging trends across the Force/region working in conjunction with the intelligence unit, and where appropriate, risk assesses the threat
- Conduct necessary administration including creating and maintaining documentation in support of investigative and intelligence functions
- Perform transcribing and log keeping duties when appropriate.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ROLE
ESSENTIAL
- Must possess the National Investigators Exam (NIE), IDP and Professionalising Investigations Programme (PIP) 2 and be Tier 3 advanced suspect and significant witness interview trained.
- Proven ability to carry out evidential and intelligence enquiries as part of a team.
- Proven ability to recognise sensitive information and maintain discretion and confidentiality
- Selfmotivated with flexible approach in terms of working times and able to cope with pressure, using initiative to solve problems.
- Proven ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels. Articulate, methodical, conscientious and concise
DESIRABLE
- Effective working knowledge and experience of Criminal law and Criminal Justice procedures, Disclosure and CPIA.
- Effective working knowledge and experience of major crime/counter terrorism/level II investigations and incident rooms
- Experience in preparation of written reports and investigative strategy documents within particular fields and coordination of their execution.
