    About the Company

    An Estimating position has become available within one of Scotland's largest manufacturing and construction companies. This is an exciting opportunity to join a past paced Estimating department and assist with their widespread tendering activities across the group.

    The group are market leaders for sustainable housebuilding and additionally work on commercial, industrial, care and education projects up to £100m in value.

    The Opportunity:

    The key role carries full responsibility for handling tender opportunities throughout the estimating cycle. You will report directly to the Estimating Manager and liaise with all other functional departments within the organisation for input and support as required. Part of the role involves mentoring other less experienced members of the estimating department and supporting their development.

    Responsibilities:

    • Preparing supplier/sub-contractor enquiries to be issued to the supply chain
    • Creation of pricing documentation including take-off/quantification
    • requirements, for internal and external parties.
    • Obtaining quotations from sub-contractors; analysis and negotiation of best
    • value offers.
    • Resolve ambiguities in tender documents and respond to queries from subcontractors.
    • Compile full tender price information including preliminaries and all work sections; including highlighting areas where added value can be created.
    • Prepare information packages for handover to the construction team.
    • Brief project team on tender bids and attend internal meetings.

    Candidate:

    The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years experience in a main contracting or sub-contracting environment and be looking to progress your career. Must have strong interpersonal and reporting skills plus good all-around IT capabilities. A meticulous approach to your work is necessary to carry out methodical analysis – along with being able to cope well under pressure. You must have the ability to maintain high-quality work while meeting tight deadlines.

    Skills

    • Experience in both Traditional and Design and Build projects is advantageous
    • Analysing Risk and Opportunities
    • Identifying and pricing Value Engineering
    • Liaising with Suppliers and Sub-contractors
    • Take-offs using an Estimating Software
    • Estimating Software such as Conquest.
    • A Full Driving Licence is essential
