Job Summary:
nThe Service Engineer will lead the troubleshooting and resolution of controls software issues on machinery and equipment, providing expert on-site support to customers UK based and worldwide.nThis role requires advanced proficiency in PLC programming, particularly with Siemens systems, along with strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to customer service.nThe successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the seamless operation of complex industrial systems, while also contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
nExperience in developing and modifying PLC code from pre-written templates, specializing in Siemens systems, as well as Rockwell, Mitsubishi, and Allen Bradley platforms.nConduct comprehensive site commissioning activities, including SAT, post-installation support, and customized customer training sessions.nGenerate high-quality software designs that meet internal, external, and regulatory requirements, ensuring technical risk is minimized and solutions are delivered accurately.nManage software design solutions and scope changes in alignment with company standard operating procedures, maintaining a strong focus on commercial viability.nFacilitate effective communication between the Service Team Lead, customers, and suppliers, providing timely updates on project progress and addressing any concerns.nActively participate in the department's continuous improvement program, identifying opportunities for process optimization and service enhancement.nDemonstrate commercial acumen to maximize value for customers and foster long-term partnerships based on trust and reliability.nInterpret complex customer and regulatory requirements to develop tailored technical solutions, mitigating risks and ensuring compliance.nCompile and analyze performance data relative to departmental KPIs, leveraging insights to drive strategic decision-making and enhance service delivery.nWork with the Service Team Lead and other team members to provide technical support and contribute to problem-solving efforts.nUtilize expertise in industrial automation software to support customers and aftermarket functions, offering insightful guidance and assistance as needed.nEvaluate technical requirements and propose viable solutions, considering resource constraints, scope changes, and potential implications.
Qualifications and Experience:
nProven track record as a Service Engineer, Commissioning Engineer, or in a similar customer-facing role within the industrial automation sector.nExceptional proficiency in PLC programming, with extensive experience working with Siemens systems and a strong understanding of other platforms such as Rockwell.nDemonstrated ability to interpret complex technical requirements and develop innovative solutions that meet customer needs while adhering to regulatory standards.nCommercial awareness and strategic thinking, with the ability to manage resources effectively and make informed decisions that drive value for both the company and its customers.nStrong communication skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.nFlexibility and adaptability to travel frequently and at short notice to customer sites worldwide, often in challenging environments.nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; relevant industry certifications and specialized training in controls software engineering are advantageous.
