    Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work with a Derby-based Local Authority on a temporary basis. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week.

    The successful candidate will assist with the Council's backlog of Legionella remedial actions, being responsible for managing the process of ordering, processing, and supervising the required tasks that arise from integrating Legionaire Risk Assessments and/or internal instructions.

    Main Duties:

    • Managing contracts and processors for tasks such as removing redundant pipework, insulating pipework, replacing Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs), and other related activities.
    • Providing supervision, contract administration, and maintenance services for all Council and third-party properties related to legionella remedial actions.
    • Provide mechanical planned preventative maintenance and reactive services according to the scheduled programme and in response to emergencies and customer requirements for the Council's and third party buildings.
    • Carry out inspections and report on all mechanical installations in Council buildings ensuring compliance with current H&S and legislative requirements.
    • Quality assurance of on-site works and installations to ensure that works are carried out correctly before authorising payments for the works order.
    • Ensure that systems are designed and maintained in accordance with all health and safety requirements with due consideration to energy and water conservation.
    • Liaise and co-ordinate work with consultants both in-house and external.
    Essential Criteria:
    • Previous experience in the maintenance of mechanical installations in commercial, education and industrial premises.
    • In-depth understanding of Legionella and mechanical systems (HVAC).
    • Experience in carrying out inspections and reporting on all mechanical installations (i.e. gas, ventilation, air conditioning and other heating systems)
    • Experienced in supervising contractors during any installation and carrying out site inspections for progress, appropriate technical content and quality of workmanship.
    • Good knowledge of Mechanical Regulations, Gas Safe etc. and previous experience of working within the CDM Regulations.
    • Educated to HNC/HND standard in a Mechanical, Building Services or an Engineering subject, or equivalent.
