Hours: 37.5 hours per week


Job Location:
Cramlington


Shift:
Sun , Mon-Thurs 12-8pm


Key Accountabilities

  • This role predominantly involves assisting the laboratory management in the following processes:
  • As a Chemist, you'll be responsible for preparing samples and performing analytical procedures to provide accurate and reliable test results to clients in accordance with written and verbal instructions. Data entry, approval and reporting of results to customers
  • Overseeing staffing and processes during the designated shift, ensuring the laboratory functions efficiently, and testing is performed to the highest standard and in line with documented procedures.
  • Conducting training with staff as agreed with laboratory management and as required by the business. Effective recording and documentation of all training received.
  • Overseeing daily production meetings and proactively participating in all other necessary operational or quality meetings
  • Assisting in method validation projects when required
  • Highlighting process improvements with a focus on continual improvements
  • Assisting or undertaking NCW/customer complaint/hazard investigations to ensure root causes and corrective actions are identified
  • Performing routine testing to support the operations wherever required

Qualifications:


Experience

  • Appreciation of accreditation issues and procedures
  • Good knowledge of chemistry
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and influence staff
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and individually.
  • Good planning and organising skills.
  • Flexible attitude to working hours
  • Ability to work to a consistently high and reproducible standard
  • Minimum of BSC or equivalent experience.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a commercial food chemistry testing laboratory
