    Job summary

    Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow post in our unit. This is a x3 full time fixed term appointment from August 2024 for a period of mandatory 12 months and is based at Arrowe Park Hospital and Clatterbridge Hospital on the Wirral.

    Main duties of the job

    The Clinical fellow posts allows a fantastic opportunity for a senior registrar who wishes to develop a career in Urology.Through the duration of the post it is envisaged that the successful candidates will gain skills in a whole breadth of procedures, work with the Consultants, other doctors in training and nursing team providing specialist urology services, specifically delivering outpatient clinics, carrying out surgical procedures and completing the related administration.

    Undertake research and audits related to specific urology subspecialty (oncology, andrology, stone & benign) .

    Work as part of the wider urology team (Junior Doctors, Consultants and Nurses) provide general urology inpatient, elective and on call duties.

    Job responsibilities

    At the more junior level you would get great benefit from the short stay and day case lists that occur in majority at the Clatterbridge site, as well as the experience of more complex procedures at the Arrowe Park site. The provision of a consultant of the week will allow excellent training and support, particularly for emergency work, and by the end of a year we hope to have transformed you into an excellent candidate for specialist training.

    A more senior candidate would benefit from exposure to the more complex operating found at this University Hospital. We provide high volume uro-oncology including Robotic Prostatectomy, Cryotherapy, Radical Cystectomy and pelvic exenteration, Radical and partial Nephrectomy and penile cancer. We also provide stone surgery and our benign service includes many treatments for male LUTS including TURP, bipolar, HOLEP, PAE and Urolift.
