    What you'll do

The UK Network area manages around £1bn of spend across Opex and Capex, supported by a small Finance Decision Support (FDS) team. Strong business partnering is needed to drive effective decision making, with control of the detail, and clear insight on the main dynamics to land budgets, plans, investments and initiatives successfully.

This role operates within the key areas of commercial decision support and finance business partnering, supporting a number of key stakeholders within the Networks organisation.

Key elements of the role will involve supporting the Opex and Capex planning and forecasting processes, business case governance and benefits tracking, F2A savings programs and Network cost and dimensioning analysis.

You will be supporting an organisation delivering a large number of interlinked programmes, with complex capacity and financial implications - helping the business explain their story, in simple financial and operational terms, is a key part of being successful in this role.

You will also play a key role in the Network Governance and change management processes, and work closely with a wide range of Network area owners to help them co-ordinate and land their financial numbers, carefully articulate the plan and variances to plan along the way.

Business partnership and collaboration: Support operational teams within Netwrks to understand the cost base, explain variances to plan, and track key programmes and initiatives – be part of their team, presenting to stakeholders, owning and driving their plan and optimising the financial implications and decisions

Drive Change: The Networks organisation is continually evolving. The Finance FDS team play a key role in helping shape the structure, processes and relationships in the verticalized organisation to ensure Financial success and control, as well as adapting themselves as a team to support the business effectively in this environment. Where we see opportunity to improve things, we have the ability and remit to drive change.

Financial analysis and insight alongside clear communication: Support the achievement of business plans and forecasts with clear financial data, analysis and metrics, consistently track and forecast performance, monitor risks and opportunities and ensure we can articulate a clear story for the areas you support.

Financial Governance & Control: Work closely with the Networks governance teams, FP&A, FinOps/SS and your FDS colleagues to ensure clear governance frameworks are managed for Capex funds, Opex budgets, headcount, accounting treatment reviews, and business case management. Ensuring the right controls and transparency is in place to enable us to manage and have insight on all major cost lines

Financial Planning : Drive the consolidated financial planning activities for the area, challenge the business on their assumptions and their articulation of the network dynamics to ensure a clear financial plan in the short + long term

Review business cases and investment requests for compliance and clear story/benefits/ROI (+provide finance sign off before submission)
