Description

We have an exciting opportunity for registered healthcare professionals to join the Stroke Team at Sheffield's' Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Trainee Assistant Clinical Practitioner.

We are looking to appoint a trainee who will be supported to undergo their ACP MSc whilst developing clinical skills within our service.

Successful post holders will undertake an extensive learning and practical working programme, to enhance current skills and knowledge via the Trust's Apprenticeship route.

As an apprentice you will undertake a combination of both on the job learning and academic study, completing a portfolio of work, alongside master's level modules with the full support of the chosen learning provider and the trust.

The role will be structured around the four core functions of advanced practice:
Expert clinical practice (with a minimum clinical focus of 80%)

Professional leadership and consultancy

Education, training and development of self and others

Practice and service development, research, and evaluation

This job is based in Sheffield's Stroke Pathway, including the Acute Stroke Unit, Sheffield's Stroke Pathway Assessment and Rehabilitation Centre, and the Community Stroke Service.

You will be working throughout the stroke pathway alongside medical and nursing and therapy teams to provide efficient assessment and treatment of our patients.

The Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner will be working towards becoming an autonomous, accountable practitioner who will work on their own initiative and in collaboration with medical, nursing, and allied health professional colleagues as required.

You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all of its staff and the community it serves.

The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors and provides excellent benefits for its staff.

This includes commitments to professional development but also many policies to support employees in balancing their personal and professional lives.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 3 years due to this being an apprenticeship/training programme.

The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts.

Please also note any secondment must first be agreed with your current line manager.

Please also note this vacancy is a training/development post so all applicants will start at Band 6 rising to Band 7 once the post holder has successfully demonstrated the completion of the relevant Advanced Practice Post Graduate Diploma, and a portfolio of evidence containing supervised learning events which demonstrate completion of the clinical element of the core curriculum outlined in the Multi-Professional Advanced Clinical Practice Framework (HEE 2017).

Please view the attached Job Description and Person Specification documents for full details regarding this post.

If you are currently employed by STH you will need approval to undertake this apprenticeship on a temporary basis from your substantive manager.
