We are looking for a new member to join our friendly Team as the Medical Workforce Assistant.

You will carry out an interesting and varied range of tasks using initiative and high-level administrative and organisational skills whilst developing your knowledge of doctors' terms and conditions of service.

This role is offered on a full-time basis however, we are happy to hear from applicants who would like to work part-time.

The role predominantly provides the transactional throughput of resourcing and systems functions.


This role will work alongside our full time Medical Workforce Assistant and together both roles fulfill all transactional requirements of our service.

The duties are varied ranging from advising and supporting managers throughout the recruitment process and ensuring key employment requirements are satisfied to entering pay information onto the payroll system and make adjustments when required throughout individual's employment journey.


As the first point of contact, Medical Workforce also provide support and welcome information to Doctors in Training on placement at the Trust.


The role will also provide guidance for any temporary bank or locum requirements for medical staff and will liaise with Service Managers, rota co-ordinators and locum agencies to ensure an efficient and accurate service, including approval of weekly locum pay.


There are many other aspects of this role that supports and enables the Medical Workforce team to provide a high-level service therefore we are looking for a team member who is not afraid of a challenge, is an excellent communicator and is customer focused.

You will need to be able to adapt to use different electronic systems and be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills and understand priorities to meet the often-varied demands.

The Christie is one of Europe's leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year.

We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.

EMPLOYEE RESOURCING
To provide and effective recruitment service to the divisions for medical and dental posts. This includes, ensuring appropriate terms and conditions advice, retrieval of appropriate forms and employment checking for the relevant grades/posts.


  • Understanding and working within national guidelines, e.g UKBA processes, Immigration Act compliance, Visa rules, GMC requirements, NHS Employment standards, national medical and dental contracts etc.
  • Using the Trac recruitment system, facilitate the recruitment process for all junior doctors including; planning of interview dates, venues, liaison with the recruiting clinician/manage and attending interview panels when appropriate to support relating to good practice and terms and conditions.
  • To provide support to the Medical Workforce Advisor in relation to the recruitment of Consultants in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Review employment status reports to ensure Medical Workforce Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are adhered to on a monthly basis and action any shortfalls or escalating any concerns as appropriate.
  • To be responsible for the inputting into ESR of all medical and dental employee pay information for new starters, changes to pay details and additional non-pay medical and dental staff. Also to process termination details of medical staff leaving the organisation.
  • To provide HR advice on employee relations matters including policy advice, both Trust and Lead Employer policies.
  • To proactively respond to any queries from the Divisions regarding any medical and dental issues.
