    ABOUT YOU

    Intertek's Food Testing Services business is looking to recruit a Head of Sales based in Stoke-On-Trent. This role will be accountable for delivering sustainable and profitable growth within the UK market for the Food Testing Business. The Head of Sales will coach, lead, and manage a team of Account Managers, and internal sales representatives to consistently deliver over budget. A volume-based business supporting a dynamic customer base across the UK and Eire. In addition, the role will be accountable for personally account managing a series of tier 1 accounts.

    Required skills and experience:

  • Good IT literacy skills
  • Preferred experience in selling high volume service propositions.
  • A proven track record of successful negotiation and profitable growth
  • Evidence of establishing a clear and understandable vision for the team to deliver sales growth; Evidence of success in managing a sales team incorporating but not exclusively delivery of results, team development and progression.
  • Communication, interpersonal, leadership, and team building skills sufficient to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse workforce.
  • Proven ability to establish strategic alliances with key decision makers internally and externally, combined with the ability to model this behaviour for direct reports.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Willing to be "hands on" working at all levels.
  • Flexible approach to travel and working hour.
  • ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

    Key activities:

  • Providing strong sales leadership, line management and vision to the sales team across a variety of locations to ensure full alignment with overall Intertek objectives.
  • Full accountability for establishing and achievement of commercial targets – revenue, profit and growing market share.
  • Strategic account management for accounts with revenue both in the UK and Globally; this would entail maintaining a select portfolio of top tier strategic accounts.
  • support of senior sponsors in relation to major prospects
  • Identifying the needs of clients and executing the best way to satisfy those needs
  • Deliver high standards of customer relations and service and be a positive company representative to customers.
  • Collaboration with operations team to ensure a joined-up approach to sales delivery.
  • Full ownership of pricing strategies.
  • Create and execute a plan to deliver budget/forecast profitable growth through new business.
  • Budgeting and forecasting on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • KPI measurement and management.
  • Continuous improvement plan focused on improving customer service and sales team productivity.
  • Management and development of direct reports and wider colleague base, carrying out annual appraisals (10X Journeys) and all associated people responsibilities including but not exclusively building future talent pipeline, succession planning, recruitment and performance management.
  • To carry out the above responsibilities, and all others which may be assigned, in a manner demonstrating support for and adherence to the Company's Safety Policy and Procedures, Quality Policy and Procedures, Ethics Policy, Environmental Management System, Vision and Strategy, and to exercise good judgment, common sense, and diplomacy in so doing.
  • Required to liaise with others inside/outside the department in a proactive and reactive manner to provide or obtain information to keep people informed so that work is completed effectively, namely HR, Finance, IT, Health and Safety and our Global Management team.
  • GBLL, BLL, Global Key Account Managers, UK Operations Managers and laboratory managers.
  • Create and drive a high-performance culture, whilst setting clear performance expectations
  • Manage performance through regular communications including one to ones, team meetings and regular feedback.
