About the Company:


Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship Standard


Leaders in the design and manufacture of hydraulic and pneumatic stainless steel directional control valves and accessories for hazardous, corrosive and subsea environments.


Bifold Orange instruments (formerly part of Orange Instruments Limited) has great expertise in electronic control and valve positioning for the valve and pump sectors, for use in hazardous areas in the worldwide upstream and downstream oil and gas industries.

We are currently seeking two Apprentice Operators within our Leeds site.


Working week:

Monday to Thursday: 7am to 4pm (with a 30-minute unpaid break)

Total hours per week: 39


Expected apprenticeship duration:

42 Months


Planned start date:

September 2023


Apprenticeship level:

Advanced Level 3


What does the job role involve?

  • Assembling Rotork electric failsafe actuators (which are part of a device or machine which helps it to achieve physical movements by converting electrical energy into mechanical force) to a consistent high level of quality, whilst using hand and power tools
  • Actuators differ depending on customer requirements. Therefore, it is important to follow the specific build and process instructions to ensure the actuator fully meets the required specifications
  • To achieve and maintain a consistent build rate, so customer orders can be fulfilled, and to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
  • To ensure all required products and components are accurately identified, picked, and supplied to the relevant team members, in a timely manner to enable the assembly of Rotork actuators
  • To build Rotork Gearboxes
  • To support the orderly receipt and storage of products and components arriving at the site, so that accurate inventory lists can be maintained, and that all products and components can be located quickly and easily
  • Assisting with goods received deliveries
  • Sorting and placing products and components onto racks and shelves
  • Preparing and packing customer orders, for collection according to a schedule
  • Dealing with any product/component returns to suppliers
  • Other duties as and when required

Role and responsibilities

  • Participating in as many learning opportunities as possible (both as part of the Production/Materials Management and wider company team)
  • Keeping a log of everything learned
  • Completing all required evaluations
  • Positively receiving feedback
  • Building good working relationships with other colleagues

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
As well as gaining a broad range of professional knowledge and experience, you will gain academic and vocational qualifications such as the Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship Standard

Level 3 apprenticeships

You could continue to develop your career by choosing to obtain further qualifications, develop and improve your management and leadership skills or even move across the different areas of the business to pursue a career in your chosen field.
