    Description

    We are recruiting for a number of Paralegals in London to support our growing Public Inquiries & Investigations team who act on behalf of high-profile governmental inquiries, including sensitive matters of national security or public interest.

    This is a full-time opportunity which is being offered on a 12-month fixed term contract. You will required to work on site in a secure environment in central London 5 days per week and be eligible for SC Clearance.

    Your Role

    As a Paralegal, you will provide support to the team on day to day case work, including the following tasks:

    • Following guidance on privacy laws to undertake a first level review for Data Subject Access Requests
    • Using e-disclosure platforms and specific systems (full training provided) to implement redaction policies and decisions, to provide disclosure to relevant stakeholders
    • Reviewing and organising data relevant to the Inquiry and presenting in a preferred format to assist the investigation
    • Taking detailed instructions from fee earners within the team and providing regular updates on progress
    • Creating bundles and document lists for trials

    Your Skills and Experience

    • A willingness to be SC Clearance –arranged upon employment offer. You must be a UK resident having lived UK uninterrupted for the past 5 years to be able to apply.
    • Previous legal assistant experience is preferable.
    • Excellent communication skill (both oral and written).
    • Accuracy, good organisational skills and flexibility.
    • Attention to detail and the ability to work under tight timescales.
    • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.

    The team provide a full legal service. This includes advising individual key witnesses representing public bodies, private individuals and acting on behalf of inquiries themselves. This breadth of experience and knowledge allows the team to deal with all aspects of public inquiries and provides a unique perspective. On top of our legal advice, we are able to provide support to an inquiry secretariat. We can provide project management, budget advice and administrative support.
