DEPARTMENT - Insert Manufacturing and Engineering Workshop


LOCATION - Hamble or Chandlers Ford


WORKING HOURS -Core hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm however we offer a Flexitime system within reason depending on business as long as hours are worked each day.

What will you be doing?
We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Technical Administrator to join our Manufacturing and Engineering workshop team.

This is a great role where you will provide Technical Support and oversight of the Insert Manufacture and Workshop teams to deliver an efficient and effective service to business units and project teams.


Specifically you will:

  • Act as an internal supplier to UK Manufacturing and Hungary for insert manufacture to ensure inserts are always available at the right standard.
  • Maintain stock of diamond tools and other consumable parts.
  • Maintain stock of blank and preplated parts for insert making.
  • Manage all equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Ensure we have the right operating procedures and work instructions for the manufacture of Inserts, Tooling and Drawing Control.
  • Enable the free flow of information across manufacturing, tooling and inserts. To work as one team.
  • Act as internal supplier for manufactured spare parts and engineering projects
  • Assess all jobs whether they should be made inhouse or outside and act as main liaison for external suppliers
  • Order raw materials, consumables, tools and equipment
  • Provide a right firsttime service for our customers
  • Ensure that all machinery is calibrated and maintained in an effective way using an appropriate maintenance strategy and record keeping system
  • Eliminate single sourcing of consumables, materials, and services where possible
  • Plan and schedule work for both workshops

  • Liaise with external suppliers
  • Order raw materials, consumables, tools and equipment

What key skills and experience should you have?
We would ideally like you to have the following:

  • Good administration experience in a Technical role
  • Knowledge of contact lens mould tooling and/or inserts is desirable
  • If you have worked within a manufacturing engineering discipline this would be desirable
  • Computer literate, with intermediate skill in the use of Word, Excel and Outlook and Power point.
  • Ability to read and understand technical material e.g. Engineering Drawings
  • Ability to deal with a range of suppliers and vendors
  • Ability to trend and analyses data.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with others
