    Anexciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic doctor to join the currentObstetrics and Gynaecology team as a clinical fellow in global womens healthat Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The service is delivered through four sites:St James University Hospital (SJUH), Leeds General Infirmary (LGI), WharfdaleGeneral Hospital and Seacroft Hospital.

    Thisis a non-training post, however, it allows the post holder, includingapplicants who already hold CCT, to gain experience that will help to securefuture posts and help deliver global health projects that the department isinvolved with.

    Almostall the sub-specialities in Obstetrics and Gynaecology are provided for at ourcentre.

    Main duties of the job

    Thepost holder will contribute to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology inpatient andoutpatient services as well as being part of the second on call rota with an onall frequency of 1 in 8. The post holder will predominantly work at the SJUHand LGI sites. Duties will involve but will not be limited to working on thelabour ward, reviewing obstetric and gynaecology (including early pregnancy)emergencies and looking after antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology inpatientsas well as attending antenatal and gynaecology clinics. There will beopportunities to develop special interests in one of the following areas:

    Gynaecology postgraduate trainingincluding simulation

    Maternal medicine

    Placenta accreta spectrum service

    Colposcopy

    Cancer diagnostics

    Thepost holder will be encouraged to undertake audit, and to partake inundergraduate and peer-led postgraduate teaching as required. In addition, they will support a remoteteaching programme taking place in Uganda and assist with laparoscopicsimulation training.

    Thereis a well-developed departmental postgraduate programme that includeseducational meetings and monthly quality perinatal morbidity and mortality,audit and human factors teaching that the successful applicant will be expectedto take an active part in.

    Globalwomens health

    Oneday a week when not on call should be dedicated to global womens healthwork. There are strong departmentallinks with Uganda and a key role is to support the current partnership betweenWest Yorkshire and Harrogate Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) and theKampala Metropolitan LMNS including the implementation of a THET fundedobstetric skills training programme in the Kampala Metropolitan LMNS. Whilst there is no funding included fortravel to Uganda, we would be supportive of the postholder applying for fundingto travel and taking leave to travel to Uganda in with college tutor agreementat a mutually suitable time.

    Eligibility, Fitness to practice, and Language Skills

    Essential

  • Have completed their post-graduate training at least to a level of an ST2 specialty doctor or equivalent in obstetrics and gynaecology
  • Possess or eligible to apply for GMC Registration
  • Familiarity with UK health system and NHS
  • Is up to date and fit to practise safely and is aware of own training needs.
  • Applicants must have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English, adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as assessed by the GMC
  • Applicants must meet professional health requirements (in line with GMC standards / Good Medical Practice).

    Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree qualification
  • Completion of Foundation competencies or equivalent
  • Basic Adult Life Support training within past 12/12
  • MRCOG Part 1
  • Competencies equivalent to ST3 training
