    Job summary

    Elmwood Family Doctors is a large, modern General Practice located across two sites in Huddersfield (Holmfirth and Meltham)

    Therefore we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated receptionist/telephonist to join our team. We have both full and part time positions available.

    We are a large, friendly and supportive team. Were open to discussion around a pattern of hours that allows individual work-life balance, whilst also meeting the needs of our Practice.

    Holmfirth and Meltham are great places to live and work, with good schools. There is plenty happening in Holmfirth and Meltham, with annual festivals for Jazz, Folk Music, Film, and the Arts. The villages sit amongst beautiful Pennine countryside but have good local amenities and are an easy drive to Leeds, Manchester & Sheffield.

    Main duties of the job

    The role involves assisting patients, booking appointments, responding toqueries and signposting to appropriate support. This is largely done throughtelephone assistance, but also includes face to face patient service on the receptiondesk. The successful candidate will spend part of each shift working in ourtelephone room with a team of friendly colleagues who will provide ongoingsupport alongside training. A strong customer service background and ability towork well within a team is essential.

    The role also involves administration work, which includes registeringnew patients, updating patient records, and processing referrals, samples andrepeat prescriptions. Although full training will be provided, excellent IT skillsare essential and some experience in administrative roles would be beneficial.

    The successful candidate will be a people person, a good communicator anda team player. They will be highly motivated, organised and efficient.Experience of working within a similar role in NHS care would be beneficial,but not essential.

    Elmwood Family Doctors is a large, modern GP Practice with an excellent reputation for patient care. We are split across two sites. Our large Holmfirth site has excellent facilities and offers a wide range of services. Our Meltham site is conveniently located in the heart of the local village community. We offer a full range of healthcare services to approximately 15,300 patients across both sites.

    Our staff work hard to make sure our patients receive a caring, courteous and professional service; including during busy periods and times when our patients may be feeling worried or in need of additional support from us. This takes dedication from all of our staff, including our busy Reception team who are in regular contact with our patients.

    Job responsibilities

    KeyDuties and Responsibilities

    To assist withproviding a comprehensive and high-quality GP service to the patients of this practiceby acting as the first point of contact for patients and others, and byproviding a friendly, efficient and accurate service for the booking of appointmentsand other administrative tasks.

    This will include (butis not limited to):

  • Welcoming patients to the practice and dealing with enquiries at the front reception desk.
  • Chaperoning patients within appointments where requested.
  • Dealing with patient enquiries on the telephone and directing them to the most appropriate service.
  • Booking appointments for patients.
  • Using our IT systems, including SystmOne to carry out administrative tasks, including processing patient registrations, updating patient records, scanning correspondence to digital patient records and processing results.
  • Re-stocking clinical rooms.
  • Hours and Location

    We're looking for a mixture of shifts throughout the week, operating at both, to work on a part-time between 17 and 22 hours per week;

    The hours will be agreed according to the successfulcandidates availability and our rota requirements, but may include shifts between our opening hours.

    Our staff work across both of our sites, Holmfirth andMeltham. This flexibility means our staff can build successful working relationshipswith all of their colleagues, get to know our patients and enjoy a more variedrole. The successful candidate will need to be able to travel to both locations.In order to ensure excellent patient service and team work, this is an on-siterole and home-working will not be practical.

    Essential

  • Excellent customer service and ability to build rapport with patients/ customers.
  • Excellent telephone manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative and timekeeping skills.
  • An enthusiastic and motivated individual.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A clear understanding of and respect for patient confidentiality and maintaining the confidentiality of business and staff information.
  • Respect for equality and diversity, of patients and staff, and ability to act in a way that recognises individual rights in a way that is consistent with the practices policies and procedures.
  • Desirable

  • Experience in administrative work.
  • Familiar with Systm One, TeamNet and Google suite.
  • Experience of working within NHS care or GP practice.
  • Experience of working in Reception role.
  • A good understanding of infection control measures and health and safety.
