Starting salary will be on the first point of Band 6 on a 3-year fixed-term contract.


The NHS in Wales is offering2salaried post-graduate training programmes inClinical Biochemistryfor high-calibre science graduates who are passionate about science and its role in patient care.


Clinical Biochemistry is a clinical scientific discipline within Pathology, undertaking the analysis of many different biological samples types and interpretation of results to help in the diagnosis, prognosis, monitoring and screening for disease.

Clinical Biochemistry employs many different analytical techniques in addition to providing clinical and scientific advice to clinical colleagues in many clinical sub-specialties in both Primary and Secondary care.

Clinical Biochemistry is an attractive specialism making a considerable contribution to direct patient care.

There are opportunities to specialize in different fields, to include paediatrics, toxicology, proteins and endocrinology, in addition to undertaking research, implementing service developments and innovation, in the field of diagnostics.

Trainees willbe requiredto rotate through other areas which will involve secondments atother locations. On completion of training, prospects for permanent employment withinWales are excellent.

For individuals with aptitude and commitment there are opportunities toprogress through the career pathway,to includeundertaking the examinations to gainFellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists and a Consultant Clinical Scientist position.
