    VSL Systems (UK) is growing and seeking an experienced Engineer for our Ground Engineering team. Adaptability to different geographical locations is essential with projects scattered across the UK. We provide travel and accommodation support.

    VSL specialises in post-tensioned and cable-stayed structures, foundations, and ground engineering. We're committed to designing, constructing, maintaining, and upgrading major structures, ensuring unmatched safety, performance, and durability.

    Location: London offices and Sizewell construction site

    Responsibilities:

    • Organize, direct, and oversee the design activities for one or multiple projects.
    • Mobilize and lead teams of Engineers and Draftsmen to execute project designs and submissions efficiently.
    • Manage and monitor design progress, ensuring compliance with external and company standards.
    • Serve as the primary interface with client representatives.
    • Report directly to the Project Manager.
    • Plan and monitor departmental resources including personnel, equipment, and tools.
    • Recruit Engineers and Drafters for current and future projects.
    • Supervise, review, and organize the Design teams.
    • Identify training needs for Engineers and develop training plans accordingly.
    • Conduct training sessions to enhance staff competence.
    • Develop budget forecasts for design activities of each project.
    • Monitor and review hourly timesheets of staff members and manage invoicing.
    • Supervise Design Engineers, Methods Engineers, and Draftspersons.
    • Ensure proper implementation of designs by the Production team.
    • Arrange regular Design reviews and conduct necessary inspections.
    • Attend Management Site Inspections when necessary.
    • Create workload schedules for the team.
    • Implement design control procedures effectively.
    • Oversee technical submissions for respective projects.
    • Assist in the technical and commercial preparation of tender projects.
    • Assess technical risks related to project methods.
    • Coordinate with Technical Centers or external Consultants as needed.
    • Attend meetings with Clients and Consultants.
    • Provide design or technical reports as required.
    • Participate in Transfer, Tender Meetings, wrap-up meetings, etc., as needed.
    • Contribute to Construction or Production objectives and End-of-Site technical matters if necessary.
    • Attend Management Reviews and HSE Committee meetings as required.
    • Attend Client Meetings as necessary.
    • Review designs, methods, and other documentation as needed.

    Requirements:

    • Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
    • Proven experience in design management.
    • Strong leadership and communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
    • Familiarity with relevant software and tools.
    • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
    • Proficiency in English; additional languages desirable.
