About the Role


We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced workshop facilitator with a track record in teaching and/or youth engagement and facilitation to deliver high quality learning experiences that develop critical media literacy and leadership skills of young people aged 14-18 in secondary schools in the west of our project region in Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire and Staffordshire.

You will be passionate about inspiring young people about news and supporting them to develop critical media literacy skills.

You will need at least two years teaching or facilitation experience in secondary education combined with a wide knowledge of the curriculum, learning outside the classroom and current education initiatives.

You will receive training in advance of delivering the project in schools.


About You

Required

  • A passion for giving young people from disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to develop understanding, skills and confidence to navigate the media landscape in order to foster resilience
  • A least two years experience working with secondary aged students delivering engaging and high quality educational experiences across learning needs
  • Excellent teaching, communication and presentation skills
  • Wide knowledge of secondary curriculum and current education initiatives
  • Understanding of the role and importance of news and media literacy in the curriculum
  • Initiative, ability to think on your feet and calmness under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to develop effective relationships with stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel extensively
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures and good practice

Advantageous

  • Experience of delivering learning activities outside the classroom activities, in youth groups, informal settings or in a similar role
  • Experience of running training events
  • Driving licence
  • Familiarity with using Zoom and/or other video conferencing platforms
