    Job summary

    An exciting development opportunity has arisen to lead our Day Surgery Unit within Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals based at Mexborough Montague Hospital.

    The Clinical Specialist Services Division will be recruiting a highly motivated and innovative experienced senior nurse with proven experience of leading / managing within a surgical inpatient or day surgery setting.

    The successful candidate will join the current senior team to progress development of the service and recent experience of working within multiple surgical specialities, in a senior position is essential.

    The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a flexible approach to improving patient outcomes and a proven ability to work in collaboration with a range of clinicians / managers across differing Clinical Divisions and services is essential.

    Main duties of the job

    Create an environment where the patient is central to all decision making and the delivery of high quality compassionate care is every body's prime objective.

    Have continuous 24-hour responsibility for leading and co-ordinating the clinical, managerial and educational requirements of the department.

    Set & monitor professional standards and the delivery of all aspects of care ensuring trust policies & procedures are adhered to.

    Creating a dynamic learning environment for all staff, overseeing the provision of education, research and practice development within the Rockingham Day Surgery unit.

    Be responsible for the management of the pay and non-pay budget for Rockingham Day Surgery , ensuring efficient and effective use of resources. Identify improvements and efficiencies.

    Ensuring your own personal compliance and that of your teams to the Trust's visions, values, and strategic goals.

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Senior Nurse / B6 Sister / Charge Nurse in day surgery/surgery
  • Scope roles/competencies relevant to speciality
  • Demonstration of knowledge and skills in speciality
  • Able to understand all aspects of surgical specialities within day surgery.
  • Evidence of department management under supervision
  • Desirable

  • Evidence of previous Band 7 experience
  • Qualifications and Training

    Essential

  • Registered Nurse with current registration
  • Mentorship qualification
  • Other advanced clinical skills venepuncture, cannulation, catheterisation, ECG
  • Up-to-date knowledge of professional issues
  • Demonstrate professional post-registration development
  • Degree in Nursing / Health Care or willing to undertake
