    Job Summary: The school cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean and hygienic environment within the school premises. They play a crucial role in ensuring that students, staff, and visitors have a safe and pleasant experience while at the school. The cleaner performs a variety of cleaning tasks to maintain the overall cleanliness of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and other common areas.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Cleaning Classrooms and Common Areas:
    • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in classrooms, hallways, and other common areas.
    • Dust and wipe down surfaces, including desks, chairs, and windowsills.
    • Empty trash bins and replace liners as needed.
  • Restroom Cleaning:
    • Clean and sanitize restrooms regularly.
    • Refill soap dispensers, paper towels, and toilet paper.
    • Ensure that mirrors and fixtures are clean and functional.
  • Floor Care:
    • Use appropriate cleaning equipment to maintain clean and polished floors.
    • Address spills promptly to prevent slips and falls.
    • Use of vacuum cleaners on carpeted areas
    • Cleaning of stairwells with appropriate care
  • Window Cleaning:
    • Clean windows and glass surfaces as needed.
  • General Areas:
    • Remove litter from staff, student and visitor spaces.
    • Keep entryways and walkways clear of debris.
  • Detail Cleaning Tasks:
    • Assist with deep cleaning projects (e.g., during school breaks).
    • Uphold health and safety standards by using appropriate cleaning products and following protocols.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other school staff to ensure a coordinated effort in maintaining cleanliness.
    • Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.

    Qualifications/Experience:

    • Prior experience in cleaning or janitorial work is a plus.
    • Attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
    • Ability to follow instructions and work independently as well as part of a wider team.
    • Understands COSHH & Risk Assessments - (Desirable)
    • Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks throughout the day.
    • Strong understanding both verbal and written in English.
    • EDBS must be held for this position. Applicants must be willing to undergo EDBS check prior starting this position.
