The Department of Blood Transfusion, within Laboratory Haematology in Cardiff & Vale University Health Board, are looking appoint an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our Transfusion Practitioner team as a Clerical Officer to provide administrative and clerical assistance to the Blood Transfusion Service based at University Hospital of Wales (UHW) in Cardiff.

The Blood Transfusion Department provides cover for the patients in the city of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

UHW is the major Trauma Centre for south Wales and the Health Board has many specialities including cardiology, renal, orthopaedic, neurology, haematology and incorporates the Children's Hospital of Wales.

Previous experience in the NHS is an advantage

The role of Transfusion Practitioner Clerical Support Officer is a vital position within this busy team.

The post holder will be expected to uphold the day to day running of the team, prepare packs for training sessions, maintain diaries, deal with enquires and undertake many more administrative tasks.

The duties and responsibilities of this post are secretarial in the main, and the post holder would be expected to arrange meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes and type and distribute documents.

Additionally, this post holder will be responsible to ensure stocks of patient information leaflets are available for distribution throughout the Health Board.

The post is for 20 hours per week and the days and times are negotiable.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
