    This role works within our Finance team and is responsible for supporting the Strategy and Transformation teams. In the role, you will be responsible for creating the assets required to effectively business partner, focussing on value creation and collectively strengthening our performance. You'll work with the Head of Strategy Finance and/or Head of Transformation Finance to effectively business partner the Director of Strategy and/or the Director of Transformation by utilising financial modelling capabilities, and strong technical and analytical skills.

    This role will challenge both the strategic rationale and investment cases for all new-pipeline projects thus influencing decisions and driving actions to improve business profitability.

    • Act as a finance business partner for the Strategy team and/or Transformation team
    • Provide financial analysis and insight in relation to the development of robust financial models for new initiatives to support high-quality business cases, ensuring we have high-level financial rigour
    • Understand and assess the commercial rationale for new ventures
    • Track and report on performance of new initiatives throughout trial phases to support key roll-out decisions
    • Present financial information within steering groups and ops board packs, clearly communicating any risks to be considered
    • Budgeting, forecasting and reporting for project spend, communicating these to Project Managers and ensuring the FP&A team are updated on latest views
    • Build and maintain strong relationships across finance and the wider business, by working cross functionally and engaging them as necessary for inputs into financial models
    • Work with advisors, banks, lawyers, consultants etc. as necessary
    • Success in this role will mean delivery of robust financial analysis with insight and value add that helps key strategic decisions to be made. Taking ownership for clearly communicating any financial risks, issues and challenges associated with new initiatives. Being an integral member of strategy project teams, liaising with finance teams and the wider business to deliver desired outcomes
    • Support the wider team on other Finance processes and projects as required
    More about you
    • Professionally Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA)
    • Commercially aware with an appreciation of the UK retail market and current challenges
    • Strong excel and financial modelling skills
    • Comfortable working within an ambiguous and unstructured environment
    • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of people
    • Strong analytical skills, with a strong eye for detail and accuracy
    • Resilient personality, capable of giving and taking challenges from senior stakeholders
    • Ability to prioritise effectively, work autonomously, demonstrating good problem-solving skills
    • High intellectual curiosity and willingness to proactively investigate new ideas
    • Have a good track record of strong financial control, but also the ability to maintain such an environment
    • Team player, able to work effectively within frameworks without direct supervision
    • Effective communicator with all levels of stakeholders, including audiences of varying financial and commercial acumen.
    • Brilliant 'Storytelling'. The ability to take complex business and finance concepts and produce high quality outputs which the business can understand and act upon.
