The role
As a Vehicle Mechanic / Examiner, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary.

You'll be responsible for the servicing, repair and overhaul of vehicles, assemblies, electrical and general equipment including diagnostic and inspection duties.


Day to day, you'll service repair and maintain Army vehicles within specific timescales, undertake inspections of vehicles and equipment, undertake diagnostic testing on vehicles and ensure all data is recorded accurately.


  • Carry out work to the required standard and specification as detailed on the James/ Works card in accordance with AESP's, customer requirements, current regulations, local instructions, process plans and other technical publications
  • Diagnose, inspect and assess vehicles and associated mechanical/ electrical equipment in line with skills & competency. Undertake diagnostic duties on equipment and to carry out road testing
  • Ensure all transactions are carried out in accordance with current ERP processes and that work completed and time taken to complete is submitted daily
  • Completion of equipment documentation and test certificates / reports when required and to required standards

Essential experience of the Vehicle Mechanic / Examiner,

  • HGV Vehicle repair experience
  • Ability to work on own and as part of a team
  • Proactive and able to manage own workload
This role will be based onsite in Kinnegar, the site will be changing to Aldergrove later this year.


Qualifications for the Vehicle Mechanic / Examiner,

  • NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance
  • Driving license essential C & E
