Lead Systems Engineer - Coventry, United Kingdom - Jaguar Land Rover

    Default job background
    Description
    Warwick University

    We're re-examining our vehicles and what a vehicle means in the emerging world of automation, connectedness, electrification and the shared economy. New ideas, new technology, and new approaches to mobility are our business. Join a team of next generation thinkers.

    WHAT TO EXPECT

    This role is to support the assimilation and deployment of robust model-based systems engineering (MBSE) across advanced powertrain engineering projects for JLR's third generation of pure-electric powertrains; specifically this includes systems modelling, requirements management and test case management; advanced powertrain projects cover a toolkit of key electric powertrain systems including the battery, electric drive unit, inverter, power electronics, high voltage architecture and on-board charging systems, as well as their integration as complete third generation pure-electric powertrain solutions.

    Support the process of delivering model-based system engineering artefacts into the JLR lifecycle gateway review process known as the 'Technology Delivery Framework', across this toolkit.

    Develop digital twins for assessment against system, powertrain, vehicle and customer level requirements via model based systems engineering, across this toolkit.

    Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Systems engineering strategy implementation for the advanced powertrain engineering domain to enable the development of JLR's third generation of pure electric powertrains, as directed by the Systems Engineering Lead for advanced powertrain projects;
  • Consistency, robustness and speed in the deployment of model based systems engineering across the domain;
  • Technical support and assistance across each technology group and their squads to harmonise the assimilation of MBSE across the domain;
  • Maintaining a robust link between MBSE outputs and artefacts, and the 'Technology Delivery Framework'
  • Digital twin development and validation strategy, and its implementation for all key electric powertrain systems across the domain, including complete powertrain systems, based on MBSE
  • Manage reporting metrics to cover MBSE training, assimilation and gateway readiness across the domain
  • Implement provision for risk, safety cases and legislative requirements via MBSE across the domain
  • WHAT YOU'LL NEED

    Essential:

  • Systems engineering experience on complex systems
  • Experience in key system engineering tools (for example, MSOSA – for system modelling, TRM – for requirements management and XRM – for test case management)
  • Requirements management in one or more of the following fields: power, energy, efficiency, torque, durability, high voltage systems, software
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Able to negotiate, collaborate and apply sound reasoning to drive progress
  • Proactively engage resources to satisfy milestones and deliverables
  • Knowledge of powertrain electrification technologies
  • #LI
