    Operations Manager (Factories) - Bedford

    Our Company seeks an additional Operations Manager to oversee the continuing development of our existing UK Factory structure as well as the planning for additional units into the future.

    Currently 4 manufacturing sites in the UK, Bedford, Spalding, Cumbernauld and Huntly, supplying our 8 Distribution Branches.

    We are Dunster House Ltd, a family owned business, employing 420 staff throughout the UK and with sister manufacturing companies in Estonia, Poland and Hungary with 330 staff.

    We have grown since moving into our Head Office complex in Bedford in 2002 with a total of 35 Staff, to 750 staff in 21 years.

    Achieved through hard work, detailed knowledge and dedication in constantly seeking out new products combined with the help of our multi-disciplined teams.

    In this next 12 months we shall have constructed or purchased another 4 buildings to increase our UK production and improve on our Sales and Distribution.

    Additional facilities are being constructed in Europe.

    We Design, Market, Sell, Transport, IT, Distribute and operate from 'forest to the gardens of our customers', who purchase D I Y Products from us.

    Leading from the front with total knowledge of how all our products are manufactured in relation to the factory abilities is key to the success of the position.

    An interest in Timber Products and D I Y personal abilities will smooth the path of your learning.

    To take full advantage of this opportunity you will have to develop experiences based on an understanding of how we are a successful business in today's business climate.

    As a structure we are totally unique in our approach to business activities and are constantly forward thinking.

    You will have to demonstrate a successful career with the responsibilities of multi-site and multi-disciplined activities in command of at least 100 + staff.

    This is an active, leading from the front, role that relies upon the old army maxim 'That you never ask a soldier to carry out a task that you have not done yourself'.

    I know from the ground up what we have built and that having a Positive Mental Attitude to gaining success is what drives us to protect our business and the staff that rely upon us creating a secure base for them.

    It is critical that you are self-driven and inquisitive to acquire the detailed knowledge on how we manufacture our products and become fully immersed in our products in our materials and machinery capabilities.

    It is essential to be both Operational and Strategic in this role whilst at the same time contributing to growth for the company.

    There is a senior management team to mentor your introduction to our company.

    The position is based in Bedford, with visits to each of the Factories at least once per month or more frequently as sites and products develop at different rates.

    The role is primarily a pastoral yet extremely pro-active leadership role and you would report to the Operations Director and Owners initially with questions and queries and then suggestions, ideas and planning forward as you help improve the growth and structure of the company.

    Accommodation is available for at least 3 months whilst in the role to familiarise the area, if required.
    Starting Salary of £60,000 and after a successful probationary period of 6 months lifts to £70,000 per annum.
