    Due to an exciting redesign of our clinical pharmacy service we have a number of opportunities for enthusiastic pharmacists to come and lead specialist clinical areas of cancer care in our growing team


    Clatterbridge is an exciting place to continue your clinical pharmacy journey in a purpose built city centre hospital in Liverpool with state of the art facilities, working within a cutting edge clinical environment.

    This role represents an opportunity to develop and further progress in the rewarding specialty that is cancer care.

    Clatterbridge Cancer Centre provides excellent cancer care to patients across the North West (including North Wales and the Isle of Man).

    We have 3 site locations the central Liverpool site and hub sites in the Wirral and Aintree.

    Contribution to the Bank holiday and on-call rota will be part of the post.

    In this role you will work alongside medical and nursing colleagues, as part of the MDT to lead the provision of patient facing pharmaceutical care on wards and in outpatient clinics within a specialty.

    You will be an integral part of your specialty oncology team as well as the wider pharmacy team and will be involved in clinical trials and research within your chosen specialty.

    There will be opportunities to develop and lead pharmacist prescribing clinics in those specialties who do not currently have this service.

    We have opportunities to specialise in and lead areas such as breast, lung, colorectal, upper GI, gynaecology, urology, skin, CNS.

    You will also have the opportunity to work within the Aseptic Production Unit, quality assessing and releasing chemotherapy.

    The opportunity to undertake a non medical prescribing qualification if you do not already have this qualification

    Our flagship specialist cancer hospital in Liverpool opened in June 2020, supported by our hospital on the Clatterbridge Health Park in Wirral providing outpatient cancer treatment and supportive care, and our radiotherapy treatment centre on the Aintree Hospital site.

    Together, working across three sites and operating specialist chemotherapy clinics in four of Merseyside's district hospitals, we are able to deliver a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies.

    We also deliver a pioneering Treatment at Home and Work service are the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers.


    Working with leading experts from The University of Liverpool and the Cancer Research UK Liverpool Cancer Trials Unit we strive to stay at the forefront of novel treatments and techniques to deliver more effective and personalised treatments than ever before.

    We are a research active Trust with clinical trials open and offered to our patient population at every opportunity.
    Provide a highly specialist clinical pharmacy service to cancer patients as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team.

    You will develop and apply specialist knowledge to a designated patient group to develop pharmacist prescribing role, working with a medical practitioner.

    Participate in the provision and development of pharmaceutical services to Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and for associated outreach units provided with services by the Pharmacy Department.

    Apply specialist knowledge to develop services, produce protocols or guidelines, undertake audit/research and act as a source of pharmaceutical expertise and promote cost effective use of medicines to other healthcare professionals.


    ~ Undertake clinical supervision and teaching of less experienced pharmacists, technicians, assistants and students.

    The post-holder will be part of a fabulous pharmacy team. We have close links with our medical and nursing colleagues, BOPA and LJMU.

    Master of Pharmacy or equivalent, General Pharmaceutical Diploma, Post graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy, non medical prescribing qualification or prepared to work towards.


    Essential:
    Post qualification experience in clinical pharmacy. Good pharmaceutical care skills and knowledge. Experience of supervising more junior pharmacists.
    Good pharmaceutical knowledge
    Demonstrable appropriate post qualification hospital experience

    Oncology pharmacy practice experience.

    Master of Pharmacy or equivalent
    Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council
    Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent
