    Hackney
    23/hr
    Full time: 35/hrs a week
    Start date: ASAP

    AKTON Recruitment is working closely with the local authorities and we are looking for a Young People's Pathway Officer in the Hackney area. Must have experience in a children's or adults social care setting ideally with experience of placements commissioning, contract management, quality assurance and direct work with vulnerable young people.

    The candidate needs to be able to start ASAP, this post will be to provide 9 months worth of cover.

    The post holder will work closely with the Placement Manager and Strategic Resource Manager, reviewing incoming referrals and seeking care arrangements for looked after children and care leavers. The post holder is responsible for managing and administering the Young People's Pathway Panel, all referrals to this pathway and supporting the wider management team with quality assurance of this provision.

    The post holder will work closely with Social Work Units, in-house fostering social workers, and external providers to identify high quality care arrangements and accommodation for looked after children and care leavers and other young people in need of support and accommodation, whilst ensuring best value for the local authority. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. To provide comprehensive and professional administrative support within the Placement Management Unit, ensuring that systems meet procedural requirements and that all work undertaken is produced to a consistently high standard. 2. Respond to referrals from Social Work Units and other internal partners, ensuring the quality of information enables the identification of care arrangements/accommodation that meet the child's or young person's assessed needs and where appropriate, liaise with other colleagues, partners and external organisations. 3. Working alongside Matching Social Worker and Fostering Support Units to identify in-house carers and manage move on from them into the pathway or other supported accommodation. 4. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers and all other relevant stakeholders. 5. Analyse reports on prospective carers/support providers/homes for looked after children in order to consider their suitability. SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Ability to work flexibly under pressure to both self- determined and prescribed deadlines.
    • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills including the ability to deal with members of the public and staff in a sensitive and appropriate manner.
    • Ability to establish positive working relationships with a wide range of professionals, carers, private and voluntary agencies, children and families, internal and external stakeholders. Ability to communicate to a range of different audiences and across organisational boundaries and levels.
    • Ability to travel through the borough and throughout the UK if required.
    • Ability to produce and analyse information (including statistics) from a variety of information management sources, producing good quality data in a variety of formats.
    KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
    • Experience of working in an administration role providing high quality admin support in a complex organisation
    • Experience in a children's or adults social care setting ideally with experience of placements commissioning, contract management, quality assurance and direct work with vulnerable young people
    • Experience in successfully managing a variety of projects simultaneously and achieving targets
    • Knowledge of child care / care leaver legislation, good practice research findings, and national childcare initiatives related to fostering, looked after children and care leavers
    • An understanding of safeguarding issues, and the legislative safeguarding framework.
    • Experience of managing information quickly and accurately, thinking laterally, analysing options and presenting workable solutions to complex service issues.
