You will lead the Research and Innovation team in building and promoting the evidence base for occupational therapy.

The team supports the development of RCOT's and the profession's capability and capacity to engage in and with research, enabling the riseof innovation in the profession and a focus on continuous improvement.

Description


This position promotes high standards of evidence-based practice, quality improvement, research and innovation and leads on digital literacy and transformation within occupational therapy practice.


As Head of Research and Innovation you are responsible for leading the teams that gather, analyse, interpret and recommend actions based on sound science.


  • In collaboration with the Director of Practice and Innovation, develops, communicates and manages the Directorate's strategy for research and Innovation.
  • Leads on the promotion and dissemination of best practice, evidence and examples of innovation across the UK; providing informed advice, standards, strategies and timely services
  • Promotes a culture of research across the profession & lead our research activities.
  • Applies for and manages funding for projects that develop and promote innovative service delivery and models of practice.
  • Ensures the timely development and production of communications and resources that promote excellence and high standards in practice
  • Leads the team to build an evidence base that shows the impact of occupational therapy and makes the case for the profession's place in health, education and social care.
  • Manages budgets and contracts to ensure cost effective and timely delivery of agreed services and projects.
  • Oversees the management of Boards, committees, advisory and working groups to guide our development and delivery of innovation and research strategies.
  • Oversees the management of our Research Foundation, donations and research awards.
  • Works closely with Movement Building & Membership and Brand & Marketing to build up and support RCOT members and people with lived experience to act as our ambassadors, experts and media representatives.

Profile
HCPC Registered occupational therapist.

Doctoral level qualification.

Demonstrated experience in service improvement and quality assurance.

Demonstrated management experience in either higher education, health or social care environments.

The ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders from start to finish.

Proven ability to interpret research and complex documents on legislation and policy related to occupational therapy practice.

Highly developed written and verbal communication skills including presentation and report-writing skills.

Ability to work as part of a team and to collaborate effectively to provide matrix leadership and thought leadership.
