The role:

To assist in leading the Group Finance Function, assuming responsibility for the delivery of external SEC reports, lead the co-ordination of the global group financial close process, support in the production of MI where applicable, in addition provide support to other teams across the business and other ad hoc projects.

Responsible for ensuring that the Group Finance team processes and controls are Sarbanes Oxley compliant, act as a key liaison with the external auditors and where necessary compliance with local regulatory authorities.

Key accountabilities:

Strategy and Planning

Responsible for the delivery of all external SEC financial reporting documents including the semiannual reporting obligations and the annual 20F, leading the production of the quarterly financial supplement, and other adhoc external reports such as prospectuses
Collaborates and supports the Group Financial Reporting team on Group wide projects, taking ownership and accountability as directed on specific projects
Contributes to the Group Financial Reporting elements of the wider Group Finance plan set by the Group CFO and overseen by the Chief Accounting Officer
Leads and collaborates with team on quarterly and annual financial planning, forecasting, reforecasting and reporting activities for the Group
Accountable for the production of the annual report and accounts and certain other regulatory reports or submissions within the remit of the groupfinancial reporting team

Policy, Process and Procedures

Lead and coordinate the global financial close process for all of the Aspen group of companies
Responsible for maintaining, developing or enhancing financial reporting tools and processes throughout the organization
Responsible for the preparation of technical accounting papers
Accountable for accounting papers and policies being updated in accounting standards (FASB) following revisions
Responsible for the preparation of internal and external slide presentations
Maintain all files and supporting documentation for internal and external audit review

Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus

Preparation of the quarterly CAO materials, scripts to support the quarterly, semiannual and annual reporting cycles and commentary as required for external publication purposes
Establish, develop and strengthen relationships with stakeholders internal and external parties to maximise influence and achieve business objectives
Collaborate and support colleagues in the preparation of presentations and supporting documentation for external release

Skills & experience:

Knowledge And Experience

Professional accounting qualification (ICAEW, ICAS, ACA)
710 post qualified years of experience
Previously employed/worked in a Big 4 Audit firm
Experience within the general insurance industry, working in Insurance and Reinsurance segments and with previous Group Finance experience (preferable)
Led and managed, newly established teams successfully
Financial management reporting requirements compliant with SEC requirements
Technical understanding of insurance accounting and regulatory requirements
Sarbanes Oxley compliance and audit requirements
