    Liberton High School

    Salary: £32, - £48, per year
    Hours: 35 per week

    Liberton High School is a non-denominational secondary school with roll of approximately pupils, working in partnership with our associated primaries of Craigour Park, Gilmerton, Liberton and Prestonfield to serve our local community in South East Edinburgh.

    We have a rising roll which is projected to peak at approximately within the next four years. We are excited to be moving into a new, purpose-built Community Campus, which is due to be completed in February .

    The leadership team comprises of the Head Teacher, three Depute Head Teachers, and a Business Manager. We have a complement of 65 teaching staff and 26 support staff. Liberton High School is a place where everyone matters and our dedicated staff are committed to supporting our young people to achieve their potential.

    We are looking to recruit two Teachers of English, to our successful English and Media Faculty. Our school roll continues to increase, and we offer a range of courses across the faculty, ranging from English CfE in the Broad General Education, to English at National, Higher and Advanced Higher level in the Senior Phase.

    We also offer Media in S3 and the Senior Phase, including National, Higher, and NPA courses. In addition, we deliver ESOL to a range of pupils. In session /25, the faculty is also offering the level 6 Communication and Literature course.

    The successful candidates will teach English at a range of levels, and there will also be the opportunity for them to become involved in teaching Media and/or ESOL depending on their areas of experience and interest. They will also contribute towards our whole school and faculty improvement priorities.

    Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

    This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act . The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
