    Description

    We are currently recruiting for a Residential Care Officer to join a fantastic team of supportive and experienced colleagues making a positive impact on the lives. This position is:

    • Temporary
    • Full time - 37 hours per week
    Key Responsibilities
    • Providing a warm, caring and enabling environment to meet the emotional, social and physical needs of looked after children and young people with disabilities and challenging behaviour.
    • Working on day shifts including weekends and bank holidays.
    • Ensuring the safety and well being of individuals in your care
    • Assisting with daily living tasks, such as personal hygiene and meal preparation
    • Maintaining accurate records and reports
    Requirements
    • Required to undertake Level 3 Diploma in Residential Care. To comply with Children's Homes Regulations, the diploma must be completed within two years of the commencement in post.
    • Have an understanding of Health and Safety.
    • Have knowledge and understanding of the impact of neglect, emotional, physical and sexual abuse has on young people.
    • Have knowledge and understanding of the impact a disability has on a young person.
    • Proficient information and IT skills to enable effective communication with internal and external agencies.
    • The post holder will be expected to be able to apply theory to practice.
    • To be a key team player and work closely with staff members and specialist workers from other agencies and organisations.
    • The Postholder will require excellent written and oral communication.
    • Ability to produce and maintain accurate records and reports.
    • Knowledge of child development.
    • Knowledge of Safeguarding and risk management.
    • Positive attitude to the promotion of diversity and equal opportunities.
    • Post holders should be comfortable working with ambiguity and uncertainty.
    • In accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty), the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
    • To hold a full current valid driving license
