Aufgaben:


Reporting to the Director of Environment & Sustainability you will lead on technical elements associated with the Environment & Sustainability Strategy in the UK.You will support both the operational environment & sustainability and delivery teams through the lifecycle of design and build, ground engineering and building contracts.

You will be responsible for providing strategic oversight and undertaking tasks aligned with achieving client, programme, strategy and parent company objectives & targets.


  • Skillset: Leadership & Strategic delivery, Environment & Sustainability Management, Sustainable Procurement & Value Chain Sustainability influence. Technically proficient in the areas of resource efficiency, Decarbonisation, climate change adaptation, circularity, social value, biodiversity net gain, natural capital.
  • Support the Director of Environment & Sustainability with strategic leadership on all aspects of environmental sustainability. Shape the UK Environment & Sustainability strategy whilst driving awareness and upskilling delivery and leadership teams.
  • Develop and own a programme of work associated with attaining PAS2080 certification, ISO20400 certification, ISO 46001 certification, benchmarking and improving circularity, reducing waste generation, benchmarking and improving our approach to BNG, calculating and influencing social value.
  • Developing a sustainability assurance process whereby targeted assessments are undertaken on projects, performance is objectively measured and means of improvement and determined.
  • Develop interdisciplinary and interproject working groups and ensure that sustainability is a key decision making consideration with everything we do.
  • Support, mentor, develop and upskill existing and new Environment & Sustainability team members.
  • Facilitate communication of information, through consultation with the Environment & Sustainability Director with the wider STRABAG group.
  • Ensure that current ISO certification is maintained and a processes associated with continual are developed and implemented.
  • Develop appropriate sustainability plans, process, procedures and guidelines for integration in the STRABAG UK environment & sustainability management system.
  • Lead on sustainability aspects of bids and work winning activity.
  • Appoint a suitable amount of time to project visits, inspections, gathering and sharing best practice, upskilling and educating project teams.
  • Understand the Clients Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and Targets as well as statutory requirements as they affect the contract's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.

Qualifikationen:


  • CSCS Card (relevant type)
  • Chartered Environmentalist
  • Full Member of the Institute of Environment Management & Assessment.
  • It would be desirable that you are a Chartered Engineer with Institute of Leadership & Management or Institute of Leadership qualifications.
  • Demonstrates an unwavering passion for the Environment and Sustainability, driving innovation and an ability to positively influence and develop those around them.
  • Significant environmental and sustainability management experience in the construction industry on large infrastructure projects or equivalent, comparable industry/projects (over 7 years)
  • Strong demonstrable leadership skills essential, with experience managing teams in a complex matrix organisation.
  • Experience in managing both corporate and operational sustainability. Ability to take direction from line managers and senior members of staff whilst also being able to communicate and influence change.
  • Strategic minded with excellent organisation, communication and time management skills. Project management and commercial/contract management experience required.
