    Description

    Purpose of role:

    To ensure accurate preparation of statutory financial statements, disclosures, and additional comments for the organization, including consolidating subsidiaries. Responsible for managing the taxation needs of the business.

    Key responsibilities:

    Operational

    • Prepare consolidated statutory financial statements.
    • Produce full disclosure notes and additional commentaries for all accounts.
    • Provide guidance on accounting treatment and disclosures following audit standards under FRS102 (UK GAAP).
    • Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations to maintain accurate records for annual audits.
    • Collaborate with the finance team to establish controlled processes for Audit approval.
    • Maintain relationships with external parties such as Auditors, Tax Accountants, Regulators, Banking, and Legal entities.
    • Manage taxation requirements of the business, liaising with tax advisers when needed.
    • Implement Solvency II reporting and disclosure requirements.
    • Support the upkeep of a strong financial internal control framework.
    • Provide advice and upkeep of Financial Controls within Finance Processes.
    • Compile the company's Accounts annually for consolidation into group accounts and audit.
    • Check monthly staff and pension payrolls.
    • Conduct regulatory and industry-specific reporting like RMAR, PRA, FCA, AFM, etc.
    • Establish and enforce appropriate financial procedures, policies, and controls to safeguard the business assets.
    • Demonstrate company values in interactions with colleagues and customers, emphasizing the principles of Consumer Duty and integrity.
    • Conduct ad hoc analysis work as required.
    • Offer cover for the Head of Finance during their absence.

    Qualifications & Skills:

    • Possess a Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACA, ACCA) or its equivalent.
    • Extensive experience in financial reporting and preparation of statutory accounts.
    • Thorough understanding of accounting principles, reporting standards (e.g., IFRS or GAAP), and tax laws.
    • Desirable proficiency in SUN accounting system or similar systems.
