    We're Hiring: Specialist Substance Misuse Worker

    Our Camden team boasts a dynamic and multidisciplinary composition, including service managers, consultant psychiatrists, doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants, recovery staff, volunteers, administrators, and peer mentors. Within community mental health teams, you will also work with social workers, occupational therapists, and psychologists. Collectively, we are dedicated to delivering optimal support and medical interventions for individuals accessing our service.

    Salary : £31, £33, Dependent on experience)

    Allowance: £4, Inner London Weighting)

    This is a FTC until March 2025.

    Responsibilities

    About the Role:

    As a Specialist Substance Misuse Worker, you'll be co-located in the Focus Community Mental Health Team.

    Your role is pivotal in training and advising Mental Health core teams regarding substance misuse, encouraging joint assessments, and ensuring service users with complex needs access the right intervention at the right time.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Support service users from entry into the service through their treatment and recovery journey.
  • Provide screening, assessment, recovery planning, and onward referral.
  • Reduce drug and alcohol-related harm to service users and the community.
  • Advocate for access to partnership services and promote carer, service user, and community involvement.
  • Train and advise Focus Homeless Outreach Team in relation to substance misuse.
  • Support social (re)integration, promoting recovery, resilience, peer support, and self-determination.
  • Enhance partnership working with primary care, mental health services, housing, and voluntary organisations.
  • About You:

  • Strong understanding of substance misuse issues with relevant field experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with good IT skills.
  • Proactive, with strong case study and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, managing time effectively.
  • Good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and best practices.
  • Supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage change successfully, prioritising service user needs.
  • Commitment to information governance processes.
