    A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Coding Service Manager to lead our highly experienced and friendly Clinical Coding team at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

    The post holder will be a highly experienced manager within a clinical coding environment with proven experience in service improvement, service delivery and quality management. The post holder will have excellent communication skills with a strong ability to engage and develop strong and sustainable relationships within the team and wider with clinical and corporate colleagues, both within the Trust and across the wider healthcare system.

    Main duties of the job

    Clinically coded data is fundamental in helping the Trust deliver against its overall goal of becoming the 'safest Trust in England, outstanding in all that we do'. The income of the Trust is reliant on accurate and timely coded data. This information is also used for resource management, clinical research, clinical audit, and healthcare contracting, and service provision both locally and nationally.

    The successful candidate will:

  • Act as the corporate professional lead for clinical coding.
  • Responsible for developing medium term clinical coding strategy, taking account of service changes implementation of an Electronic Patient Record.
  • Developing and leading the clinical coding function across the Trust.
  • Developing and implementing best practice to ensure timely and the highest quality coded data across the Trust to support a whole host of agendas include Trust income and mortality.
  • Act as a project lead specialist for any clinical coding projects or expert for any projects with a clinical coding element.
  • Responsible for the delivery of key clinical coding key performance indicators and audit requirements.

  • oSignificant experience within a Clinical Coding environment
  • oSignificant experience working at a management level, including team management
  • oUnderstanding and experience of managing data quality in Clinical Coding
  • oExcellent working knowledge of Trust Patient Administration Systems and other key operational patient systems and patient flow.
  • oKnowledge of the role and function of
  • oIn-depth and specialist knowledge of generating Trust income from Clinical Coding and Healthcare Resource Groups
  • oDemonstrable experience in proposing and successfully introducing change management to improve the delivery of a service
