Y Bwthyn Newydd, Specialist Palliative Care Inpatient Unit are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Health Care Support Worker to join the team.

You will be working alongside Registered Nurses providing care and support to our patients.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.


This role involves providing basic nursing care to patients under the supervision of qualified nurses and also requires you to communicate effectively with patients, relatives and staff.

This role will require you to support patients with life limiting conditions.

The role will also involve supporting relatives and visitors to the unit by ensuring you listen and offer empathy, compassion and a supportive approach in all that you do.

There will be an expectation to support with mealtimes to promote the nutritional and hydration needs of the patients.

You will be trained to undertake baseline observations and to provide safe care to our patients by assisting with activities of daily living.

You willgain the knowledge and skills required to recognise and report any untoward changes in patient conditions to the Registered Nurse.

You will be supported by the nursing team and ward manager.

You will assist with ward audits and data collection and will be involved in maintainingstock control levels as appropriate.
