About the team

The FIS Legal team is comprised of more than 200 lawyers and paralegals worldwide who enjoy being an advisor to and partner with our businesses to help the company achieve its goals.

We work collaboratively with each other and with our business colleagues tosolve problems in an effective and pragmatic manner.

What you will be doing

This is a broad based in-house legal role primarily focused on providing regulatory support on a global basis for FIS Capital Markets and Banking business divisions.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide high quality, business focused legal support directly to a growing and fast paced global business through a strong understanding of both the relevant legal and regulatory framework and business requirements.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the business, sales and products teams in addressing regulatory compliance, licensing, business and reporting matters for FIS regulated businesses under PSD2, FSMA, CCA as well as designing comprehensive risk assessment programsand policies.
  • Where required coordinate, manage and validate advice from external counsel within a budget.
  • Translate legal and regulatory requirements into functional specifications and standard operational procedures and provide ongoing regulatory advice and guidance on internal policies and changing regulations.
  • Advise on new and emerging legal and regulatory developments impacting FIS's business, including identifying industry standards and potential impacts on business activities.
  • Provide support to the business, including risk and compliance focused teams to ensure policies, procedures and products comply with relevant laws and regulations and protect the company's reputation.
  • Perform legal research and analysis and keep up to date with changes to information technology law issues, as well as payment processing and payment services, including data security and privacy, technology development, and commercial services.
  • Support the business and legal team in relation to regulatory issues in customer negotiations.

What you bring:


  • You are a fully qualified as a common law lawyer with an undergraduate qualification to a good degree standard from a leading university
  • You have a minimum of 5 years' post qualification experience in the practice of law in a highquality law firm or inhouse environment with solid experience advising on regulatory matters.
  • As a baseline, you have specific experience with a UK or EU financial sector regulated business.
  • You have familiarity with, and strong interest in, financial services technology, mobile and alternative payments, as well as emerging technology.
  • You have the capacity to quickly learn and adapt to new regulations or requirements and develop creative approaches to addressing them.
  • You have experience providing riskbased and pragmatic resolution of regulatory matters outstanding privacy and data protection aspects of commercial negotiations, leveraging in a quick, concise and commercially focused legal advice.
  • You also have strong analytical and advisory skills, including the ability to review and evaluate multifaceted issues and counsel business colleagues on complex legal questions relating to various business matters.
  • You possess the ability to use creative problemsolving skills to resolve issues in a pragmatic and sound manner and operate in a collaborative working environment.
