Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic BSL Teaching Assistant.As a BSL Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, providing support and assistance in their learning journey.
-This is a full time role starting immediately and continuing in September.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the teacher in implementing educational programs and activities for students who use British Sign Language (BSL) as their primary mode of communication.
- Support students in understanding and following classroom instructions, assignments, and curriculum materials through BSL interpretation.
- Facilitate communication and interaction between students and teachers, ensuring a supportive learning environment.
- Provide oneonone or small group support to students who require additional assistance in their studies.
- Collaborate with the educational team to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students, tailoring strategies to meet their specific needs.
- Assist in the preparation of learning materials and resources, adapting them as necessary to ensure accessibility for students using BSL.
- Monitor students' progress and behavior, documenting observations and providing feedback to the teacher and relevant stakeholders.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting the social and emotional development of students.
Requirements:

L2 or higher in British Sign Language (BSL) is essential

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and effectively communicate with students, teachers, and parents/guardians.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
