Each academy is individually shaped around the community and children it serves. Based in the attractive village of Carlton, we offer an exceptional education and are committed to our vision of: placing students at the forefront of what we do, so we can help them to reach their potential, training, developing and recruiting staff who strive to be experts in their respective fields, and operating obsessively to attain the highest standards, thereby enhancing children's life-chances.

Outwood Academy Carlton is situated in North East Barnsley and is easily accessible from South and West Yorkshire, with Wakefield, Sheffield, Doncaster, Huddersfield and Pontefract all within commuting distance. We are just 5 miles from the M1.

You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students. Applications are invited from experienced professionals with a proven track record of raising standards in any domain of leadership. We would welcome applications from both highly performing, experienced middle leaders with curriculum and/or pastoral backgrounds or from those who are already established senior leaders who are currently leading whole school initiatives. Applicants should subscribe to, and align with, our views of collegiality, whereby we acknowledge that everyone plays a pivotal role in creating a holistic and transformative education for the students of Carlton. At Outwood Academy Carlton we operate a single core purpose, we strive to 'continually and repeatedly grow, well informed, 'good' human beings who are armed with the character, skill, emotional intelligence and qualifications to be personally, occupationally and/or professionally successful people.'

You will be joining a highly innovative, inspirational and ambitious organisation, so we are seeking only exceptional candidates. We are an academy that commits to a culture of 'high challenge and high support' - we have the highest of expectations, but we aim to arm all our staff with the development, support and training they may require to secure these high expectations.

At Outwood Academy Carlton, we are proud of our commitment to transformative teaching and research informed pedagogy. Applicants must be exceptional teachers, with a comprehensive understanding of teaching and learning. We expect our leaders to be unapologetically curious about teaching and learning and we believe that 'things done well, can always be done better' so we continually look to refine our practice to provide a world class education.

We offer an excellent package of professional development opportunities, clear career progression and access to Outwood Plus, our extensive offer of employee benefits.

This is a critical appointment for the Academy and is an exciting opportunity for you to move your career onto the next stage.

Outwood Academy Carlton is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to complete a DBS form in line with Section 115 of the Police Act 1997.
