Are you an experienced Building Surveyor looking for a new and exciting opportunity? Our client has a fantastic vacancy in our Regeneration Communities and Customer Services department within Housing Services/Residential Services.
Job Title:
Building Surveyor (Adaptations)
Contract:
Ongoing (3 month rolling)
Hybrid Working:2/3 days on sight per week but can be flexible.
Pay Rate:
Competitive depending on experience.
Purpose of the Job:
As a Building Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in providing a comprehensive surveying service to facilitate improvements and adaptations to service users' homes in line with legislative requirements and the Council's policies.
Duties:
***- Conduct detailed surveys of properties, providing measurements and readings as required.
- Decide on the most appropriate building work/adaptation following inspections.
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists and Health professionals to determine suitable adaptations.
- Interpret legislation related to Disabled Facilities Grants to ensure eligibility criteria are met.
- Prepare detailed specifications of work funded by grants or loans, including drawings and technical specifications.
- Analyse quotations from builders for accuracy and costeffectiveness.
- Negotiate costs with builders to minimise liability and stay within the approved budget.
- Supervise contracts, ensuring quality, conducting site visits, approving payments, and resolving disputes.
Requirements:
***- HNC or HND in Building Surveying (E)
- Membership of Chartered Institute of Builders or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (D)
- Experience in supervising contracts for residential property adaptations, maintenance, repair, and improvement (E)
- Experience in providing services to older people and people with disabilities (D)
- Ability to produce professional standard drawings and specifications, including adaptations for people with disabilities (D)
- Understanding of domestic building construction, defects diagnosis, and adaptation work identification (E)
- Commitment to a clientcentred approach to service delivery (D)
- Familiarity with Housing and Disabled Facilities Grants (E)
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) to interact effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders (E)
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, and organise work efficiently (E)
- Computer literacy (E)
- Sensitive and tactful in dealing with people (D)
