We are seeking a Senior Enterprise Architect, who is a true thought leader who is experienced in both defining and owning the IT strategy for their area, driving strategy execution through delivery of architecture activities.

They will lead and build a strongarchitecture team to develop and embed business and technology strategy through effective business and IT partnership; develop achievable reference and solution architectures; as well as supporting the engineering community in the implementation of those architecturesand contributing to development of Group architecture strategy and standards.

Because this is to work at group level, we are happy to consider applicants from Retail Banking, Investment Banking or Asset Management.


The successful applicant, will report to Chief Architect globally for all of technology and have a dotted line into at least one CIO.You will be accountable for design and decisions in support of the domain, ensuring they are aligned with group standards,IT and business strategy, meet business objectives and satisfy all relevant regulatory and operational risk controls.

As well as leading the operation of the global practice of architecture within Finance IT.You will have direct management over 11 architectswho are in turn responsible for supporting the different domains of Group Finance IT globally, including Accounting, Financial Reporting, Tax Reporting, Risk Weighted Asset (RWA) Reporting, Treasury Functions (Liquidity, Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book,Capital Management, Funds Transfer Pricing), Strategic Planning, Forecasting, Stress Testing and Financial MI and Analytics

As well as dealing up to and including MD level on a daily basis, the role involves direct involvement in numerous Steering Committees, Working Groups and Design Authorities

Key initiatives include

  • Group Treasury: new systems/amendment to existing
  • Finance Ledger Strategy: general ledger, cost ledger, subledgers including APAC & Far East
  • All the time keeping one eye in any ongoing concerns around multientity processing

Whilst in the background:

  • Championing the development and implementation of Future State Architecture (FSA) spanning both business and technology architecture
  • Leading and owning the development and implementation of architecture strategy, standards and roadmap for the domain
  • Drive synergies across domain through consistent architecture and identify opportunities for standardisation, sharing and the reduction of complexity.
  • Introduce and govern new practices, processes, techniques, products, services, technologies and standards where needed against identified use cases, via the appropriate governance bodies
  • Accountable design authority for technology decisions and leadership of those governance bodies.
  • Accountable for the identification, management and remediation of material design issues associated with major architectural activities.
  • Provide a consultancy role to IT and business teams where appropriate.
  • Provide full life cycle architectural guidance to development teams and ensure quality technical deliverables.
  • Stay abreast of technology trends and advise IT and the business about potential benefits/impacts.


Please note that we have not advertised the rate on offer for this inside IR35 opportunity as our client will be driven by who they meet.

Hybrid working model 1-2 days per week in (central London) office/s
