Exciting opportunity for Permanent Inpatient Matron
In order to support continuity Nursing leadership in the Enfield inpatient services we are recruiting for a permanent Matron's role.
The post holder will be accountable for the allocation, deployment, prioritisation and delivery of the nursing strategy and for implementing and reviewing systems, policies, standards and procedures that ensure the provision of high quality services with frameworks agreed by the Trust.
The post holder has overall responsibility for the management and development of integrated inpatient nursing mental health services in Enfield.
The post holder will have clinical leadership responsibilities and will provide frontline leadership to staff on nursing issues and patient-centered care.
The post holder will ensure the development of governance structures and processes to improve quality of care, safety and patient experience.
The post holder will develop a culture of clinical improvement, leading by example and empowering nurses to improve the quality of care and well-being of service users.
To be known and visible to staff, visiting the ward regularly, being familiar with the service users and their needs and the challenges faced by your staff.
The post holder will have oversight and focus on each stage of the care and discharge pathway, offering expertise in the management of complex cases.
Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust is a multiple award-winning, combined mental health and community Trust providing local, regional and national healthcare services.

BEH manages the renowned North London Forensic Services (NLFS), rated as 'Outstanding' by the CQC. This service treats and cares for people within the criminal justice system who have mental health conditions.
We also provide one of the largest eating disorder services in England, as well as drug and alcohol services and mental health liaison services in North Middlesex University Hospitals Trust.
Modern Matrons are the quality and clinical safety leaders for their designated areas and are therefore responsible for ensuring that staff practice and conduct meet requirements of the Trust.
They retain responsibility for the quality of clinical standards, safety, skills and competencies development including mandatory training and developing knowledge within the team of Trust management structures, operations, policies and protocols.
You should provide expert nursing advice on the delivery of patient care, ensuring that you are visible and accessible to staff and consultants, attend the ward regularly, know the service users personally and their clinical needs and be aware of the challenges faced by your staff.
You should attain the standards of care required in the Trust and evidenced in audits and national surveys, including the CQC standards and National Patient Survey.
You will need to meet regularly with the ward managers and consultants to review clinical quality and agree action on complex cases.
You will be accountable for clinical supervision and ensuring that this takes place regularly for all staff, either by supervising senior staff or by reviewing supervision of other staff with your seniors.
This should happen in line with Trust requirements and should include case management supervision, open safe reflective practice discussion and should link effectively to objective setting/PDP processes, the fulfilment of statutory and mandatory training requirements and any performance improvement actions that may arise.
You must be familiar with Trust clinical and related policies including the Observation Policy, the Mental Health Act 1983, the Children's Act 2004, the CPA policy and Safeguarding arrangements and ensure they are implemented in practice.
As a clinical leader you will be called on to provide expert advice and support on the management of complex cases and the prevention and management of risk.
You should ensure active debriefs are held with staff and services users appropriately following events that have been significant, distressed or caused injury to people.
Being curious is a good thing as it helps identify issues of concern which might otherwise remain hidden and become significant, undermining the therapeutic culture.
