    Post Title: Sister/ Charge Nurse

    Grade: BAND 6

    Salary: £35,392 to £42,618 per annum

    Department: Haematology/Oncology day unit

    Location: The Meadows Eccles Hill Hospital

    Hours: Part Time

    Brief Description of the Role:

    The haematology/oncology day unit requires a dynamic, motivated and experienced nurse to participate in the leadership of a busy Day case unit. The post holder will support the Day Unit manager with the clinical and nursing leadership and operational management of the day case unit team.

    The Day Case Unit is currently based at The Meadows at Eccles hill treatment Centre and cares for patients with a range of conditions. The successful candidate will be required to lead the team in providing nursing care in a multi-disciplinary team structure. The post holder must have previous band 5 experience.

    SKILL/QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:

    The post holder must be a RGN with previous Band 5 experience. Experience in Oncology, Haematology and chemotherapy administration is desirable. The post holder will possess a teaching qualification and IT skills. A degree level of education or equivalent is desirable.

    IV Skills /phlebotomy and cannulation

    Health Service Related degree/diploma

    Experience: Recent, extensive post registration experience in senior band 5 role.

    DESIRABLE

    Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Nursing or equivalent experience

    ENB courses applicable to specialty

    Knowledge/Skills: Computer literacy/Presentation skills

    Experience: Chemotherapy administration

  • Assists the Departmental Manager in the organisation and control of all patient care and treatment maintaining high standards of care.

  • Is involved in clinical supervision.
  • Assists in setting standards in collaboration with Departmental Manager.
  • Assists in ensuring standards are audited as per QA Calendar and reports sent to Matron.
  • Cascades standards and audit skills to junior staff.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate sickness records and follows Trust Sickness Policy.
  • Assists in ensuring staff take allocated holiday entitlement, maintaining accurate records.
