Reporting to the Chief Pricing Officer and the Managing Director of Granite Underwriting, as Head of Pricing for Granite Underwriting you will lead the end-to-end product, pricing and commercial decision making across our Wholesale businesses.

Granite Underwriting transacts through our specialist broker network and includes a variety of Specialist Private Car, Short Term cover, Commercial Vehicle, Fleet, Wholesale Taxi and Motor Trade.

Hybrid with office days in Liverpool


Working hours: 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5:30pm


What you will be doing:


  • Lead Product and Pricing decisions for Granite Wholesale's varied range of products, managing growth and profitability for existing products as well as designing and launch of new products.
  • Keep up to date with market developments such as competitor shifts, inflation and claims trends, and views from our Claims and Reserving Departments, to quickly identify and act on opportunities or risks to our business model.
  • Use our suite of MI to manage a range of Traditional Rating Schemes across the multiple products listed above, taking a practical market approach as well as a technically robust one.
  • Identifying opportunities and launching new Specialist Motor products to expand our footprint.
  • Present insights and proposals to senior stakeholders. Champion our Product and Pricing Governance framework, also working closely with Haven, Technical Product and Compliance, and the Senior Leadership team.

What we're looking for:


  • Experienced Underwriter with track record of managing complex portfolios and traditional eligibility and pricing Schemes.
  • Numerically savvy and comfortable combining traditional schemes with modern pricing techniques such as GLMs and Machine Learning models.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to make sensible commercial decisions based on complex models in a competitive and dynamic market.
  • Experience of delivering on largescale projects involving multiple teams, and managing and prioritising multiple priorities and analysts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Desire to challenge the status quo and offer new solutions in a proactive manner.
  • UK Motor knowledge preferred but not essential.
