    Grade 4- £32,076 - £39,186 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review
    Permanent, working per week – Hybrid working

    We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled individual to join our multi-disciplinary Public Health Division in a PR and Communications capacity.

    This is a rare opening to join the Public Health team within the largest unitary Local Authority in the country and lead work that contributes to Birmingham being a bold city.

    The Public Health Division is engaged in a dynamic and diverse range of innovative work at a local, regional, national and international level.

    The PublicHealthDivision works across the council planand isresponsibleforproviding strategic leadership todeveloptheCouncilinto a local authoritythatactively promotes population health.

    Our vision is to improve and protect the health and wellbeing of Birmingham's population by reducing inequalities in health and enabling people to help themselves.

    We are looking for a PR and Communications specialist who will be able to apply a high level of knowledge and skill to support the wider Public Health team here Birmingham City Council.

    This role will report to the Head of Office and support in the delivery of Public Health campaign across various channels.

    Through the Covid Pandemic and beyond the Public Health Division has invested heavily in engagement and partnership working and demonstrated the importance of the Healthy Brum corporate brand for health improvement information dissemination as a trusted source for partners and citizens.

    The post continues to on this learning and embed a formal matrix communication and PR function working between the Public Health division, managed by the Head of Office, and the Corporate Communications function accountable within the communication structure.

    This full-time position will be within the Deputy Director team focusing on our PR and Communications/ Social Marketing.

    has substantial experience drafting news releases, features, picture captions, web copy, media briefings, liaising with journalists, identifying, and supporting spokespeople, attending events as necessary in order to achieve maximum positive coverage for the Council and contribute to Birmingham's good reputation.

    is able to interact with the diverse communities of Birmingham and is passionate about reducing health inequalities through PR and Communications
    Able to produce efficient production of all associated reports and briefings and to ensure systematic documentation, evaluation, monitoring and appraisal of activities, meeting any audit requirements
    has experience of delivering performance and governance arrangements and developing and implementing improvement programmes in line with agreed priorities
    has substantial experience of developing and coordinating the delivery of major projects in complex and challenging environments
