    Ceres is a leading developer of clean energy technology, electrolysis for the creation of green hydrogen and fuel cells for power generation.

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to support Ceres growth in SOEC large-scale electrolyser development, with a focus on DRI steel, green ammonia, and synthetic fuels.

    You will be specialising in the specification, development, and integration of electrical power supplies for large plant scale electrolyser systems.

    The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience and strong technical knowledge around electrical networks and power electronic technologies, operating in complex multi-disciplinary projects such as substation development, rail or oil and gas.

    Conduct electrical power system simulation and evaluation to optimise the system design; this will include load flow, short circuit, transient stability and design risk-analysis
    Developing concepts for electrical and power electronic architecture, including producing SLD drawings, equipment layouts, earthing and protection schemes, cable routing and weather protection
    Manage, review, and approve the design and delivery of works being undertaken by electrical contractors to connect LV electrolyser to MV/HV distribution system
    Provide technical advice to the project team to ensure all aspects of the electrical design are appropriately considered and risk assessed
    Identify and mitigate project risk relevant to grid connections and electrical design
    Accountable for reviewing and approving electrical design compliance with all relevant national and international standards such as IEC, IEEE, ANSI and NFPA
    Support the build & test of the electrical aspects of the project
    Troubleshooting electrical issues during commissioning
    Visits to installation location if appropriate
    Qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (BEng Degree as minimum qualification, MEng, MSc or PhD is a plus)
    Experience designing and delivering grid connections for MW scale demand projects involving AC and DC distributions
    Good understanding of grid connection process, regulations, and policy
    Practical experience of designing electrical systems (cable and busbar sizing, protection device selection, earthing/grounding design, surge and lightning protection) and able to advise on panel and wiring layout, connection requirements, cable management etc
    Knowledge of reviewing electrical design (electrical drawing and schematics, ETAP design, BoM, load calculation, components selection
    Experience in interfacing electrical system with control system elements such as PLCs, embedded microcontrollers, electronic power converters and protection devices
    Experience in Electrical Power System Analysis using tools such as ETAP, EPLAN and MATLAB
    Ceres projects have a strong R&D component and involve working on first of a kind prototype development, therefore a positive mindset and can-do attitude are strongly desirable
