    A leading supplier of advanced electronic communications, information systems and signals intelligence technology to the Defence and security sectors has an opportunity for an experienced Engineering Manager with a strong technical background to support the future growth of the business. The ideal candidate will have already delivered technical leadership and management at a senior level within Defence or engineering and shall perform day-to-day management and resourcing of the multi-disciplinary team.

    Engineering Manager role

    You will be working onsite in Reigate with the cross discipline team managing 13 engineers reporting to the technical director (and deputising into the technical director position in his absence), management is split between two Lead engineers across design and production (the engineering team is a combination of mechanical, electronics, firmware and production support). Engineering background is required (discipline is flexible) in order to be able to communicate with the team effectively. You will be managing the team, resourcing the projects and prioritising different projects to ensure work is being completed by the design team in the most advantageous way possible. The business follow the V model, aspects of the software development are completed in Agile and the business are open to suggestion with regard to what tools you want to use (JIRA etc.). Experience working in the defence sector is particularly beneficial but failing that the client can recognise management experience in regulated industries providing you have come from an engineering background.

    Engineering manager Requirements

    Director level meetings input including close engagement with each technical team lead, and individual team members, to ensure all taskings and agreed technical outputs from the Business Development and Project Management teams are met. A Development and implementation resource allocation strategies to ensure optimal utilisation of personnel across projects, balancing workload, skillsets, and competencies to maximize efficiency. You will be conducting regular assessments of team capacity and workload, identifying potential bottlenecks or resource constraints and proactively recommending and supporting solutions to mitigate risks.

    · Able to conduct training needs analyses, construct training plans, oversee the delivery of training, and review training.

    · Able to identify and organise technical resources to meet the conflicting demands of different customers, opportunities, and projects.

    · Able to resolve fundamental and complex technical issues with customers and company Directors.

    · Able to hold an independent view and offer constructive input to business debates.

    The client are paying a competitive salary for the position and can offer a host of benefits (including 5% pension, 25 days annual leave + bank holidays, performance bonus and health and dental insurance), the successful candidate will be required to undertake relevant enhanced security checks and will require a UK passport and driving licence.
