About Us:

Welcome the public to two unique historic homes

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea manages two of the most important house museums in London: Leighton House, the former studio-house of the Victorian artist Frederic, Lord Leighton; and Sambourne House, home of the legendary illustrator Linley Sambourne and a rare example of the 'House Beautiful' style of the late nineteenth century.

Having completed an £8 million refurbishment of Leighton House in 2022, we now offer an improved visitor experience to showcase this unique museum.

The Role:

Welcoming visitors to these two unique and inspiring heritage environments is a rare privilege. Heading up a team of staff and volunteers, you'll lead by example, engaging visitors and shaping our public face.

This means input to every part of the visitor journey, from our ticketing system to our new online shop offer.

You'll also oversee operations in our new museum shops. Behind the scenes, you'll ensure everything runs equally smoothly, from staff training and rotas to health and safety. It's a busy, varied role that offers hands-on connection with every aspect of managing a heritage attraction.

This role works on a casual 'as and when' basis.
