    Defour Partnership is working exclusively with a very special client who are a Charity and we are recruiting for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO).


    Salary:
    £48,587 to £50,625 (Pay Award Pending April 2024)


    • 37 Hours Per Week
    • (Work outside of normal office hours may be required, for which Time Off in Lieu will be granted)
    • 2 Years Fixed Term Contract


    Middlesbrough Environment City (MEC) is an independent charity that promotes healthy and sustainable lifestyles using the ten principles of One Planet Living.

    We are currently looking for a Chief Executive Officer to join us as we seek to build on our important work and to take the charity forward on its journey.

    We are looking for someone with a clear vision as to how the charity can be expanded in the future and the commitment and drive to carry this out.

    The CEO also has specific responsibilities for developing the programme of work within the strategic context of Middlesbrough's Green Strategy and Public Health priorities and with regard to tackling the climate crisis and the needs of the local communities.


    You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of Middlesbrough Environment City including, but certainly not limited to, developing new, and nurturing existing, local partnerships; Developing and implementing a comprehensive strategic strategy for Middlesbrough Environment City, in line with our charitable objectives and our commitments to One Planet living Framework and the Tees Valley; Leading on the identification and alignment of external funding and sponsorship opportunities to ensure the sustainable growth of the organisation and delivery against Middlesbrough Environment City's charitable objectives and strategic business plan, and managing all other resources including land, buildings and equipment being the property of the management board, or placed at their disposal, in accordance with relevant legislation.

    The successful applicant will be passionate about improving the lives of the people of Middlesbrough. The CEO will bring with them a strong track record of leadership and vision.

    They must be an experienced and effective communicator, adaptable, able to enthuse and inspire colleagues and potential funders regarding the values and impact of Middlesbrough Environment City.


    With a satisfactory broad education, you will have experience of, and evidence of, achievement and skills in fundraising, people management and budget management, as well as a range of project management experience with evidence of achievement/excellence.

    You will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, evidence of setting and meeting targets either directly or with others, and a strong understanding of the environmental, climate change and sustainability landscape.

    You will also have knowledge of employment legislation, and experience in public speaking, as well as bid writing experience and success with public bodies.
