    Wood is currently recruiting for a passionate Engineering Manager for our Offshore Energies consulting business in Aberdeen to compliment the local leadership team; support the management and development of the engineering team; and deliver projects in the offshore energies space comprising conventional subsea projects and the nascent developing Energy Transition markets including floating offshore wind, CCUS, H2, offshore electrification and other energy vectors.

    The Role

    A multi-disciplinary leader with a passion for growing an engineering business. You will have a strong appreciation of all phases of subsea engineering projects and skilled in stakeholder management. You will grow your career through taking responsibility for developing and motivating a highly skilled engineering team, ensuring the technical assurance of the portfolio of projects across the team and engaging as part of the local management team.

    Focusing on predictable project delivery against key internal and external metrics of cost, schedule and quality you will steer the engineering team to develop the technoeconomic solutions that guides them to successfully execute and deliver project activities to achieve Client satisfaction.

    You will be responsible for proactively supporting business development and steering tendering activities across multi-disciplinary opportunities through Wood's tender governance with exposure to technical and commercial elements.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The key objectives for this role are:
    • Engaging as part of the local SEC leadership
    • Driving technical assurance within the team
    • Managing, supporting and supervising the discipline engineering teams on technical scope(s) of work.
    • Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities.
    • Developing and retaining motivated and competent people.
    • Delivering the projects portfolio and manage risk relating to project execution in accordance Wood policies and ensuring strong Client relationships
    • Grow the business. Find new clients and expand work with existing customers.
    • Develop compelling and competitive proposals that readily demonstrate to Clients the best way to deliver their project
    • To provide technical excellence, guidance and support to developing engineers with associated line management responsibilities.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Expected:
    • Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering Discipline or Science
    • Experienced in subsea engineering design through all project phases
    • Commercial awareness of project delivery
    • A proven leader, capable of motivating and leading multi-disciplined and multi-cultural teams, encouraging a collaborative and inclusive culture
    • An exceptional communicator able to build collaboration and influence stakeholders, bringing clients and peers on your journey to deliver the best of Wood
    • Thinks strategically, takes decisions and delivers results
    Desirable:
    • Chartered Engineer or Scientist
    • Member of an appropriate professional institution
    • Some level of qualification from Association of Project Management or similar
    • Experience across a broad range of offshore energies projects from conventional oil & gas through transition technologies.
    • Proficient in the use of project scheduling, estimating and cost accounting tools and methods.
